reThink (Orange) Color Wall – Permanent Video Set Installation

A brilliantly colored video set Recently we had the absolute pleasure of designing, building, and installing a beautiful permanent set for the XP3 Middle School Team at The reThink Group – or, more commonly known as Orange.  For those of you who may not be familiar with Orange, they produce incredible strategies for uniting parents and churches with raising their children. More information about what they do is available here: http://whatisorange,org. This particular install was incredibly satisfying, follow along as we walk through this install!   This wall was a wonderful install!  We are completely satisfied with the way it turned out – and look forward to see all the things that the XP3 Middle School team is going to do with it! New Set Design!

New Set Design!

We’ve just wrapped up a new stage set for Perimeter Church’s Young Families Retreat, so here’s a look at the final design, and the process we used to get there!  This project was a blast to build even if a bit rushed (due to a very tight schedule before the event and a week of nothing but rain forecast ahead gave us exactly one weekend to build the entire thing!) We usually build sets such as these out of 1×12 #2 Pine that we rip down to the size we require, but the time constraints, unfortunately, did not give us that option, so we opted for tongue and groove 1×5 boards from Big Orange (their 1×6 Pine was $12 per 12 foot board!!) because of it’s very affordable price tag and the ease with which we’d be able to mount it to the frames. All in all, it was a great build, and we can’t wait to see it in place at the event!     Making sure that the proportions are correct Aligning the completed panels for the folding sections YF Retreat Stage - Stained Boards Modified Design - Alternate view Modified Design Original Design Making sure that the proportions are correct Here we see the whole set mocked up (minus the left (stage right) panel because the dog was refusing to be a team player and hold it for us) Aligning the completed panels for the folding sections Here we're aligning the center panels for the folding sections in order to mount the tops, and make sure everything lines up properly YF Retreat Stage - Stained Boards Aligning...
